We're giving back to our communities!
Our places are about more than just health and fitness, they’re about making an impact on the communities we serve.
Whether it’s guiding a child to take their first strokes in the water or helping somebody hit a new personal best at the gym, we love nothing more than seeing the goodness that our customers get from our people and facilities!
Creating active places that empower people to be the healthiest version of themselves, whatever that looks like, is what we’re all about. That’s why during August, we put on a range of initiatives to give back to our communities!
Here’s how we did it:
Free swimming for children receiving free school meals
We offered children receiving free school meals a free Summer swimming pass, which allowed them to make a splash in their chosen centre across the month of August! In addition to the pass, each child also received a free pair of Zoggs goggles.*
Darren Lovelock, UK Leisure Sales Manager at Zoggs said, "Zoggs champion the joy of swimming. Joining forces with our long-standing partner Places Leisure allows us to extend this joy to thousands of children across the country. Where Places Leisure provides the venue, we can provide the essential equipment that allows children to experience the freedom, fun and exhilaration of the water. We can't wait to see how many children we can get swimming this summer!"

Free Junior membership for sports course participants
A free Junior membership for the month of August was offered to all our existing course participants aged 11 years and over. Our Junior memberships include unlimited swimming and access to the gym within supervised times**.
Free 1-month Premium membership for Parents/Guardians of children on sports courses
A free 1-month Premium membership was also up for grabs to parents/guardians of children on our trampolining, swimming, and/or gymnastics courses. Our Premium membership includes unlimited gym use, group exercise classes, pool use, access to the Places Locker app, 15 days advanced booking***, and free use of SWIMTAG. Our range of options allows our members to stay fit wherever and however they feel most comfortable.

Register your interest for free Lifeguard and Swimming Teacher courses
NPLQ and SEQ courses are available at a selection of our centres, allowing people to learn valuable, life-saving skills and become qualified lifeguards and swim instructors. During August, members of the public could register their interest for free lifeguard and swim instructor courses at participating centres.
Bring a friend for free Friday
We’re always looking to widen the opportunities that our centres provide, and we know that exercising with friends can really boost our members’ fitness, so on every Friday throughout August our members had the chance to bring along a friend to the gym for free!

Open days
Many of our centres hosted open days for all the community, both members and non-members, to come along to. Swimming, badminton, and our group workout classes were just some of the activities that people could try out.
Half price indoor and outdoor courts
Across the month of August, selected centres offered half price court hire at various times throughout the week.
Find out more information about booking and court timetables on your local centre’s page.

**Once initial induction and programme cards have been received, the Junior can come along to the gym anytime across August. Junior membership offer applies to those aged 11 and over.
