We're dedicated to helping our members stay active in whatever way suits them. That's why we've developed a comprehensive plan to ensure we can provide you with the support you need.
We offer a range of memberships to suit you, depending on your needs, from Swim Only deals to our all-encompassing Premium Plus membership.
Alternatively, we also welcome day visitors - simply create your free Places membership before visiting.
Pay as you go sessions are currently charged at £10.50 for adults and £5.70 for concessions.

Gym support
To familiarise you with the gym and to get to know your goals we'd like to offer you a short group introduction to the gym. This can be booked with a member of the team when you join or at a later date via our website.
One-to-one support sessions can be booked with a member of the gym team. The sessions last 45 minutes and are chargeable.
You are also welcome to book one free 15 minute programme review a month, just speak to a member of our team.
Our gyms are not always manned, but rest assured support is never far away. Our equipment is labelled with QR codes, which when scanned, provide you a video tutorial. Also look out for our latest workout boards in the gym, with a scannable code showcasing the latest workout to try.

Gym etiquette
We want everyone's time in our gym to be as comfortable as possible, so we ask all visitors to remember the below when using the facilities.
- Please help us keep the gym clean by wiping down equipment after use
- Wear appropriate footwear for the activity you're doing
- Lifting barefoot or in socks is permitted on lifting platforms only
- Make use of our lockers for bags
- Our gym's aren't always manned, so if you require assistance or support when there are no team members on the gym floor, please visit our friendly reception team
- In case of emergency, push the assistance alarm
- A gym induction must be completed before using the gym
- 1 adult (18 years+) can attend with up to four Junior members and is responsible for the Junior member's conduct
- You must follow all exercise programme advice given by our Fitness team
- During busy times, please be mindful of the length of time you spend on each piece of equipment to allow other gym users to complete their workout

We operate a range of fitness classes at our centre, both in and out of the pool. Take a look at some of the types of activities we've got for you:
Group cycling
Ride like the wind with our group cycling classes. You’ll feel like you’ve had a workout with one of these sessions.
Les Mills classes
Les Mills classes are enjoyed all over the world and include Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Balance, Body Attack and GRIT.
Studio classes
Offering a range of intensities from gentle and relaxing to a more intensive workout, you’ll be able to find a class that suits you.
Aqua classes
Classes range from gentle to high impact so you can work hard and enjoy the support of the pool improving strength and fitness.
Personal training

Health suite
Have you had a busy day or just finished a hard workout? Why not finish it off with a lovely relaxing session in our health suite.
We have a sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi exclusively for members to enjoy.

Pre and post-natal classes
We offer a range of classes to support mums to maintain their fitness before and after having a baby.
Parent and Baby Circuits
A varied exercise workout for parents! Sessions are fun, relaxed and suitable for all fitness levels.
Babies are welcome from 8 weeks up to pre-walking age.
Sessions take place on Tuesdays 10:30am-11:15am and cost £7.50 (free for members).
Parent and Baby Group Cycling
A 30-minute group cycling workout designed to assist parents in getting back into shape following the birth of their baby.
Music is kept at a lower volume, and babies are welcome from 8 weeks up to pre-walking age in a pushchair or car seat.

At The Dolphin we're dedicated to supporting recovery, rehabilitation and your overall health and wellbeing. That's why we offer exercise referral schemes to provide help to those in our community that need it.
Places Leisure Exercise Referral scheme
Our GP Exercise Referral scheme by Places Leisure offers an ideal opportunity for individuals with long-term health conditions to increase their physical activity and enhance their overall health and wellness. Our Exercise Referral scheme aims to provide individuals with underlying medical conditions, or those at risk of developing conditions, the opportunity to engage in safe and welcoming physical activity, while also raising awareness of the benefits of such activity to foster long-term behaviour change.
Engaging in regular physical activity can positively impact the following:
- Weight management
- Mental well-being
- Muscle and joint functions
- Heart health
It not only helps manage existing conditions but also serves as a preventive measure against other health complications. Our Exercise Referral membership offers an initial 12-week support programme, tailored to empower individuals to self-manage their conditions with increased confidence.
Who is eligible for the Exercise Referral scheme?
Individuals with a range of health conditions, such as asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, depression, anxiety, osteoporosis, joint replacements, rehabilitation from Covid-19 and more, are welcome ton participate in the Exercise Referral scheme.
How to enrol
If you have a health condition, simply consult your GP, nurse, physio or other healthcare practitioner. If you meet the eligibility criteria, they can refer you to the scheme.
What is included in the Exercise Referral scheme?
Week 1: Initial health assessment & exercise prescription (60 minutes)
- Meet exercise referral specialist
- Complete initial health assessment
- Complete/review initial questionnaire
- Discuss goals, pathways and classes
- Brief induction into the gym or health suite pool
Week 2: Support session (30 minutes)
- Receive personalized programme, guidance and encouragement
- Discuss challenges or barriers
Week 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11: Drop-in supervised sessions in the gym or pool (30-60 minutes)
- Attend as many sessions as you want knowing an instructor is there to help
- Receive support and reassurance
- Briefly discuss exercise techniques
- Brief guidance on what to add to your programme
Week 6: Mid-point appointment (30 minutes)
- Complete mid-assessment questionnaire
- Receive additional support, advice and exercise adjustments
Week 12: Scheme evaluation (30 minutes)
- Complete end assessment questionnaire
- Assess progress and determine programme continuation
Post-week 12: Ongoing support
- Access to supervised support sessions
- Ongoing discounted membership
Our exercise classes
Our vast range of exercise classes can be integrated into your exercise prescription along with specialised classes:
- Cardiac classes
- Easy group cycle
- Exercise on Referral class- gentle circuit based classes
- Falls Prevention/Chair-based - very low intensity for people wanting to improve strength, balance, and posture (£6 for non-members, £3 for members)
- Aqua rehab
- Aqua walking
Swimming & group health & wellbeing classes are included.
How much does it cost?
Our GP Exercise Referral scheme membership is available at a monthly rate of £39. There is no joining fee for continuous membership taken by direct debit.
Junior fitness
We run the following supervised sessions for children aged 11-15 years to attend:
- Monday - Friday 3.30pm - 4.30pm | 4.30pm-5.30pm
- Saturdays 10.00am-11.00am
All junior gym users must complete a group introduction before using the gym independently. These sessions last 30 minutes and can be booked with a member of our team when joining.
Once a junior member has completed their introduction and received programme advice they can attend outside the above supervised sessions with a parent/guardian or appropriate adult (18+) on a ratio of a maximum four juniors per adult.
