National Fitness Day 2026

Powered by Places Leisure

Welcome to our National Fitness Day hub

The UK's biggest celebration of health and fitness is back!

Taking place on 16 September 2026, National Fitness Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle by bringing people together through physical activity.

This year's theme, #PoweredByPlacesLeisure, celebrates what motivates people to be active and encourages everyone to inspire others to get involved. However you choose to move, and whatever powers you, being active is what matters.

How to take part

National Fitness Day is all about bringing people together, no matter their age, ability, or background, to embrace the positive impact of being active.

Everyone has their own reason for getting moving, whether that's improving fitness, boosting wellbeing, spending time with others, or simply trying something new. Our centres are here to help you take that next step, whatever that looks like for you.

There's no better time than National Fitness Day to get involved, whether that's through a quick workout, a swim, a fitness class, or a visit to your local centre.

Don't forget that our Places Leisure app has hundreds of free virtual workouts for you to do anytime, anywhere. No matter your current fitness level, there's something for everyone.

We also offer a FREE 1-day pass, giving you the chance to try your local Places Leisure centre, whether that's the gym, a swim, or a class.
