The Hurst Pool will close from Monday 7th September to allow for a significant refurbishment programme designed to improve the experience for all customers.
This investment will deliver several important improvements, including:
- Modernised changing rooms
- Upgraded interior décor throughout the facility
- Enhanced energy efficiency to reduce environmental impact
- Improved vending provision, including refreshments and coffee

FAQ
I have a membership, where can I swim during the closure
If you regularly use The Hurst Pool for swimming rather than lessons, we are pleased to advise that you can continue swimming at our nearby facilities during the refurbishment period.
Members will be able to use both Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex pools throughout the closure. A full timetable of public swimming sessions, lane swimming and family swimming can be found on our website or via the Places Leisure app.
Helpful information when arriving at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex
- The lockers require a padlock, which you can purchase at reception, or please feel free to bring your own along

Parking may be busy at peak times; however, you can use the Elmbridge Sports Hub overflow car park

Access control barriers are in place when you arrive – please have your membership Card ready, or the QR code within your app
If you are unable to travel to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex
We understand that travelling to an alternative location may not be suitable for everyone.
If you do not wish to continue your lessons or swim at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex, you have the following options:

Cancel your swimming lessons without penalty; or
-
Request a complimentary freeze on your lesson/membership until The Hurst Pool reopens.
If you would like to cancel or freeze your lessons/membership, please complete this form here by Friday 22nd August so we can make the necessary arrangements.
What will happen to my swimming lessons?
To ensure that your swimming journey can continue uninterrupted, all swimming lessons will automatically transfer to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex during the closure period.
If you wish to continue with your lessons, no action is required. We will transfer your booking automatically; please see below for the new times of your lessons.
Lesson schedule updates

PAV Stage 10 on Mondays at 5:30pm will remain unchanged.

Sunday lessons will change from 9:00am to 11:00am and will now run from 10:15am to 12:15pm for both small pool and main pool classes.

All small pool lessons (Monday to Saturday) will start 5 minutes earlier than their current scheduled times.

All main pool lessons (Monday to Saturday) will start 15 minutes earlier than their current scheduled times.
Will my lesson place be saved?
Yes. Your lesson booking will automatically transfer to Xcel Pool unless you choose to cancel or freeze your lessons.

You can either cancel your lessons or request a complimentary freeze until The Hurst Pool reopens.
When will The Hurst Pool reopen?
We will provide regular updates throughout the refurbishment and will confirm the reopening date as soon as it is available.

Yes, we have had to make some minor changes to the times; please see the table below

The start of the refurbishment programme was previously delayed due to contractor-related issues. A revised programme has now been agreed, and we are pleased to be moving forward with these important improvements.
