The Hurst Pool is closing from late March 2026 for refurbishment works, funded by Elmbridge Borough Council.

Why is the pool closing?
The Hurst Pool pool will be closed for refurbishment from late March 2026. The refurbishment will bring a fresh and modern feel to the centre, extending its lifespan and improving your experience.
Planned improvements include:
• Brand-new changing rooms – modernisation of the area including new showers, toilets, changing cubicles and lockers, as well as a vanity area
• Improved energy efficiency to reduce environmental impact
• Improved decoration throughout the centre
How long is the pool closing for?
The works are due to commence in late March 2026 with the view to re-open in late summer 2026. We will keep this webpage updated with any developments and will contact you via email shortly with a confirmed closure date. We will also email you when The Hurst Pool is due to re-open. We look forward to welcoming you back to the newly refurbished facility later this year.
Swimming lesson FAQs
Will I still be charged whilst The Hurst Pool is closed?
Swimming lessons will continue during the closure at our nearby centre, Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. No action is required from you at this time, we will contact you nearer the closure date to confirm your individual lesson day and time.
I would like to move my child’s lesson. Will their teacher and lesson time stay the same?
Lessons will continue at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex during the closure. While we will aim to keep your child’s lesson on the same day, their swimming time may vary slightly, and the pool layout may differ compared to The Hurst Pool. We will contact you nearer the closure date with confirmation of your child’s lesson details.
Can my child still use their free swimming benefit?
Yes, free swimming can be used at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex while your child continues their swimming lessons there.
Will I be notified when The Hurst Pool is due to re-open?
Yes, we will contact you via email to notify you when The Hurst Pool is due to re-open and lessons will resume. We look forward to welcoming you back to the newly refurbished facility.
Membership FAQs
Will I still get charged during the pool closure?
Yes, if you choose to keep your membership unfrozen you will continue to be charged and you will gain access to the pool at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. You can freeze your membership and not be charged you can do this for free here
During the closure, you will also have pool access to Sunbury Leisure Centre, Eclipse Leisure Centre, The Malden Centre and Rainbow Leisure Centre.
What facilities can I access as part of my membership during the pool closure at The Hurst Pool?
You will have access to the pool at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex, Sunbury Leisure Centre, Eclipse Leisure Centre and The Malden Centre, if you have chosen not to freeze your membership. If you choose to freeze your membership you will not have access to any sites.
How do I freeze my direct debit during the closure?
Please complete the form here to freeze your direct debit throughout the duration of the closure. You will not have access to any facilities during the period your direct debit is frozen.
