Why is the pool closing? 

The pool and changing area will be closed for refurbishment from xxxtbc. These works will include a brand new wet changing area which will incorporate new showers, toilets, changing cubicles and lockers as well as a vanity area and lighting. 

How long is the pool closing for? 

The works are due to commence on the xxxtbc with the view to re-open in December 2025. We will keep this webpage updated with any developments and will contact you via email when The Hurst Pool is due to re-open. We can't wait to welcome you back to the newly refurbished facility at the end of the year.

Will I still be charged whilst The Hurst Pool is closed?

During the closure of The Hurst Pool you have the option to move your, or your child/ren's membership and courses to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex where we will aim to accommodate a time and day that suit you, however this may not be possible. If we can't, you can freeze your swimming lessons until the reopening. 

I would like to continue lessons with Places Leisure whilst The Hurst Pool is closed, what do I need to do? 

Contact us here Contact Us | Places Leisure with the following information: 

  • Your child(ren)’s name(s)
  • Their date of birth
  • Their current stage(s)
  • Your contact number, so that a member of our team can get in touch. 
I would like to move my child’s lesson. Will their teacher and lesson time stay the same? 

We will do our best to work with you to find a session date that meets your needs. We are running extra sessions to accommodate the demand at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. We may not be able to offer you the same teacher, session day, or time that you currently attend at Hurst Pool.

Can my child still use their free swimming benefit? 

Yes, at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex if you continue with your swimming lessons.

Will I be notified when The Hurst Pool is due to re-open? 

Yes, we will contact you via email to notify you when Hurst Pool is due to re-open, and lessons will resume. We can’t wait to welcome you back to your newly refurbished facility. 

Membership FAQs 

Will I still get charged during the pool closure? 

Yes, if you choose to keep your membership unfrozen you will continue to be charged and you will gain access to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. You can freeze your membership and not be charged you can do this for free here 

What facilities can I access as part of my membership during the pool closure at The Hurst Pool? 

You will have access to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex if you have chosen not to freeze your membership. If you choose to freeze your membership you will not have access to any sites. 

How do I freeze my direct debit during the closure? 

Please complete the form here to freeze your direct debit throughout the duration of the closure. You will not have access to any facilities during the period your direct debit is frozen.

How do I un-freeze my membership (or direct debit) when Hurst Pool re-opens? 

Your next Direct Debit will automatically be collected in xxxxTBCxxxx in line with the re-opening in December 2025. If anything changes, we will contact you to let you know.

Yes, we will contact you via email and keep this page up to date with information about re-opening.
