Congratulations Rue!

Swimmer of the year 2022

After a challenging 2022 we wanted to round the year off with some good news stories. We asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition.

They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers.  They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.

Rue Harvey - Strode Leisure Centre's swimmer of the year 2022!
Rue is 8 years old and has been attending lessons here at Strode since pre-school.
Rue attends every lesson with enthusiasm and diligence, through his commitment he has been selected to join Clevedon Amateur Swimming Club where he has represented the club in a recent gala.
What makes Rue's achievements even more remarkable is the fact that he was born with part of his left arm missing and he hasn't let this fact stop him from progressing with his swimming ability.
