Leisure pool developments
We're really pleased to announce that after a combined investment of £42,000 to our leisure facilities, improvement work will be carried out later this month.
A new interactive aquatic-themed attraction is being added to provide additional fun for young families, with children aged under 8. Features will include:
- Colourful fish squirts, octopus mast and rocky terrain.
- Water cascade with interactive water channels and paddles to allow the flow of water to be changed.
- Interactive play panels featuring a bright underwater design with a series of moving parts and mirrors providing tactile, visual, and auditory stimulation.
- Water bowls that can be filled from and emptied back into the pool.

To enable the work to be carried out, in addition to routine maintenance, our pools will be closed temporarily between Monday 19th December and Tuesday 27th December. Swimming lessons will resume from Monday 2nd January.
Further information regarding the official launch of the water features, will be announced shortly.
Chris Skidmore, Contract Manager at Places Leisure, said: “Investing in our younger generation is an investment in their future. We’re therefore delighted to announce these improvements, which we firmly believe will bring invaluable changes to our local community, contribute towards healthier lifestyles and promote social interaction. We are pleased to be investing £14,000 into our leisure facility developments and can’t wait to unveil the new space!”
This work has been made possible thanks to investment by North Somerset Council using funds from a section 106 legal agreement.
Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council's executive member for neighbourhoods and community services, said: “When new developments happen, developers are usually asked to pay a contribution towards the funding of local infrastructure, which can include leisure facilities. In this case, the council is using £28,000 taken from such a contribution to invest in this fantastic pool play equipment for the benefit for local children and young people. It’s great to see such positive use for these local development funds.”
Great news! Our improved leisure facilities will still be included as part of our premium membership benefits.
The work will not impact on other facilities including the gym, sports hall and studios, which will remain open as usual. Details of the centre’s festive opening times are available here.
