Safeguarding children and adults at risk

Our policy

Places Leisure is committed to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that take part in sport and leisure activities.

Places Leisure has a Safeguarding policy and procedure for both safeguarding children and adults at risk. Each policy outlines its commitment to ensure that all children, young people and adults at risk have equal rights to protection from harm, a right to enjoy physical activity, free from all forms of abuse and exploitation.

Discrimination, bullying or harassment will not be tolerated and inequalities will be challenged.

These policies include good practice guidance following current legislation, information on the recruitment and training of staff and volunteers and procedures in place to respond to any safeguarding concern and allegations of abuse against members of staff.

Our staff induction programme includes safeguarding training which outlines the key areas of all safeguarding concerns; ‘React, Record, Report’. This training ensures that all staff are made aware of good practice to ensure a safe and healthy environment amongst parents, carers and participants.

It is important to remember that all Places Leisure employees who either work directly or come in to contact with children, young people or adults at risk have a part to play in helping keep them safe and to promote their welfare. A key part of child safeguarding is spreading the message about keeping children safe and building a culture of always acting in the best interest of all children.

Places Leisure has identified key members of the team who have a designated safeguarding role within the organisation. These staff receive additional support and training throughout the year to carry out this role.

If you have any welfare or safeguarding concerns at any time during your visit to one of our centres please speak to a member of staff immediately who will liaise with our Designated Safeguarding Team to deal with your concern.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We must all play our part.
