Brand-new Reformer Pilates studio at Wokingham Leisure Centre

Wokingham Leisure Centre is set to bring one of the UK’s fastest-growing fitness trends to the local community, with Places Leisure opening a brand-new Reformer Pilates studio on 7 September.

Reformer Pilates has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, attracting people who are seeking low-impact, strength-focused exercise that supports mobility, movement, rehabilitation and overall wellbeing. Performed on a specialist machine with adjustable resistance and a moving platform, Reformer Pilates can provide a versatile workout that can be tailored for individual fitness levels.

Places Leisure is an agent for Wokingham Borough Council, the opening of the studio marks the end of a £500,000 investment in the fitness facilities at the leisure centre.

Tony Penge, Area Manager at Places Leisure, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring Reformer Pilates to Wokingham Leisure Centre, making this increasingly popular fitness experience more accessible to the local community.

“Reformer Pilates provides a low-impact, strength-based form of exercise that supports movement, mobility, rehabilitation and overall wellbeing. It is a class that people can benefit from no matter what stage they are at in their fitness journey. We will be running a variation of classes including several for those who are new to Reformer Pilates as well as classes for those who are more familiar with the class.

“The dedicated studio is modern and equipped with 12 brand-new beds, in a welcoming environment where people will feel confident and supported in trying something new or as they continue through their fitness journey.”

Cllr Stephen Conway, Leader of Wokingham Borough Council, said: “Staying fit and healthy is incredibly important and we are lucky in Wokingham borough to have so many different ways to do that. I’m thrilled that Reformer Pilates is coming to Wokingham Leisure Centre thanks to our investment and partnership with Places Leisure.”
