Ed Lane, Contract Manager at Places Leisure, said: “The opening of the gym and wellbeing suite at Wandle Recreation Centre marks an important milestone in our vision for creating a health-focused facility that supports people at every stage of their health journey. Parts of the gym have been designed specifically for individuals who are recovering from injury, living with long-term conditions or looking for a safe and supportive environment to improve their fitness. We recognise that returning to physical activity after injury or while managing a health condition can be challenging, and having access to the right equipment, specialist support and a welcoming environment can make a significant difference to recovery, confidence and long-term wellbeing. This facility will provide access to the latest specialised equipment and expert guidance.

“Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities this new facility will provide including the ability to work more closely with NHS partners to deliver programme that can make a real difference to the community’s lives.

“The completion of this work marks the first phase of development works for this centre and is part of the wider investment into the leisure facilities across Wandsworth. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Wandsworth Council to enhance facilities and services across the borough.”
