We're investing £4.5m in your centre
We’re incredibly pleased to embark on our recent management of Rainbow Leisure Centre in partnership with Epsom & Ewell Borough Council for the next 10 years and are delighted to announce some exciting news, a major £4.5 million investment is coming to Rainbow Leisure Centre to enhance your experience and create even more ways for you to stay active and well.
Making a difference to the Communities in which we are based is our core purpose as a Social Enterprise – Because Community Matters.
The upgrades will include:
- A complete gym refurbishment featuring all-new premium Life Fitness equipment and cutting-edge EGYM smart technology to personalise and elevate your workouts.
- Refreshed fitness studios, including an immersive Group Cycling Studio for a next-level experience.
- A brand-new health suite, redesigned and reimagined to match the stunning facilities at Places Leisure Camberley and Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex
Gym Refurbishment
To bring you the new-look gym, work will begin on Thursday 6 November, with the gym scheduled to reopen in early January 2025.
To keep you moving during this time, a temporary gym will be installed in the sports hall, and as a valued member you’ll also have free access to all other Places Leisure centres throughout the refurbishment period, including Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex, Malden Centre, Tolworth Recreation Centre, Weir Archer Athletics and Fitness Centre, Chessington Sports Centre (or any other Places Leisure centre nationwide – find your nearest centre here).
Studio Update
Our next exciting phase will see the studios close in December to be refurbished to create a brand-new workout space and a dedicated immersive Group Cycling Studio. Again, you’ll have access to all Places Leisure centres throughout the refurbishment to ensure you never miss a class!
Health Suite Update
As part of our ongoing development plan for Rainbow Leisure Centre, we will also close the health suite and connecting changing rooms on the Friday 7 November. These areas will undergo a huge transformation, and be completely reconfigured and refurbished into a state-of-the-art health suite, designed to the same high standard as our flagship sites such as Places Leisure Camberley and Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. Due to the extensive works required to transform this space, this phase will take up to 8 months to complete and is planned to re-open in Summer 2026.
