Congratulations to Sonny, Darcey, Libby and Ryan

Fairfield Leisure Centre's Swimmers of the year

It's that time again! We asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition for their progress in 2022.

They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers.  They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.

Sonny, Darcey and Libby Carver  - Fairfield Leisure Centre's Swimmers of the Year 2022

"All 3 are on our swim programme and have been involved with Fairfield for a number of years. All children started in Adult and Child, with oldest Libby now in Synchro, Darcey in stage 3 and Sonny in stage 1.

Sadly, their father passed away last year, and mum still brings all 3 children weekly. Swimming has remained a routine for the children especially as they have had to adapt with something so life changing at a young age. Every week the children try so hard taking everything in their stride, and never give up."

Well done Sonny, Darcey and Libby!

Ryan Bull - Fairfield Leisure Centre's Adult Swimmer of the Year 2022

Ryan had an agreement with his wife, if he enrolled onto swimming lessons, she would have to hold her end of the deal and take up skiing lessons.
Ryan came to us a complete beginner, could not float or get his legs off the floor. A few months on, his now in the Improver class and is swimming lengths & is also confident in deep water.
Ryan has achieved so much, and his wife still hasn't had a skiing lesson yet.
Well done Ryan!
