Congratulations Millie!

Brackenbury Sports Centre's gymnast of the year

After a challenging 2022 we wanted to round the year off with some good news stories. We asked all of our Gymnastic Coaches to nominate those distinctive, very special gymnasts who deserved a bit of recognition.

They were asked to identify gymnasts on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers. They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.

Millie McAlpine - Brackenbury Sports Centre's gymnast of the year 2022

Nominated by Kirsty Stannard, Duty Manager

Millie has been doing gymnastics with us since she was in pre-school and is now in our most advanced classes. She attends two classes a week and has improved so much over the years, as has her confidence.

She still has her fears, but once reassured she gives everything a go with no hesitations. Millie is a pleasure to teach, she is such a sweet girl, turns up every week and listens to the instructions given and always tries her best and it shows with the moves she produces.

Now 14, Millie has just attended a gymnastics helpers course to enable her to continue on her gymnastics pathway by helping in the beginners classes on a regular basis, encouraging and passing down her experiences and knowledge to the younger gymnasts whilst on her own learning journey to becoming a confident young coach.

Well done Millie!
