The benefits of using EGYM technology for workouts

  • Fully customised: The EGYM Fitness Hub, a smart machine which you’ll find in many of our centres**, takes measurements of your BioAge, flexibility, strength, balance, and posture. These measurements then inform what’s included in your workout plan.
  • Easily track your progress: The workout plan we’ve mentioned above can be easily found in your account on our Places Fitness app. Here, you can also adjust your goals, track your progress, and connect the app to wearable technology (e.g Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin) too.
  • Expert support: A friendly member of our Fitness team will tailor your EGYM experience to meet your personal goals and address any considerations. As one of our Fitness Managers, David, says: “Using the EGYM Fitness Hub, your Fitness Instructor can measure and test for your strengths as well as improvements in your flexibility, strength, cardiovascular health and biometric markers such as muscle mass and body fat. These results are all stored on our easy-to-use Places Fitness App, ready to look at whenever you like.” It’s like having a PT in your pocket!

What exercises will I be doing?

The exercises you do will depend on your individual fitness goals as well as the measurements we’ve mentioned around flexibility, strength, balance, and posture.

A member of our Fitness team will make your workout plan based on your results from the EGYM Fitness Hub. This plan will include a range of exercises that incorporate typical gym equipment you may already be familiar with, such as the treadmill, free weights, and stretching/flexibility equipment. Who knows - you may even try out a piece of equipment that’s completely new to you and end up loving it! Our Colleagues in the gym are always happy to show you how to use any equipment you’re unsure of.

How often should I be exercising?

How regularly you exercise depends on your lifestyle and fitness goals.

The NHS recommends that adults should do some type of physical activity every day, with muscle-strengthening activities (think weightlifting or exercising with resistance bands) and vigorous activity (such as running or swimming) taking priority.

Don’t forget that it’s important to make exercise fun too. If you track your workouts on our Places Fitness app, you can earn activity points per workout! Getting more activity points will move you through different levels, with Gold meaning you’ve got to the top and you’re meeting the World Health Organization’s recommendations for regular activity.

It’s also important to think about how exercise can fit into your lifestyle. Perhaps you’re most energetic in the mornings, or you’d prefer to exercise after a long day to destress. Creating a schedule that you can stick to regularly at a time that benefits you the most will help you commit to exercise and make progress in the long run.

Remember to contact your GP if you have a medical condition or concerns around exercise.

How we can help?

The EGYM Fitness Hub can be found in many of our centres**, making it easy to level up your workouts with EGYM’s technology!

Once you’re a member with us*, you can get workout plans and expert support that’s personalised to you with our Activate & Focus programme.

“In the initial one-to-one session, Activate, you and your Fitness Instructor will discuss your previous exercise history, exercise preference and current exercise goals. Once days and times of when you can exercise have been identified, a personalised workout plan will be developed to suit your lifestyle. David adds.

After you’ve been following your plan, you can book a Focus session. This is another one-to-one session with a Fitness Instructor where you’ll both review how you’re getting on with your plan and make any adjustments to ensure your workouts keep working for you!
