Welcome to Places Leisure, a little bit about us …
As part of Places for People, we are one of the UK's leading social enterprises, welcoming over 30 million members to over 90 health and wellbeing facilities across the nation annually. Our overall aim is to create active places and healthy people for communities to thrive.
We’re thrilled to welcome you to Places Leisure and are looking forward to getting to know you and your communities.
Here are a few FAQ’s that may be helpful during the transition, we will keep these updated as we move forward with further information as we have it.
Frequently asked questions
General Information
Will the opening hours stay the same?
Initially, yes. Places Leisure will review the opening and closing times with the onsite staff teams to ensure they reflect the needs of the community.
Will Albany close whilst the transfer of management takes place?
It is important to us that the transfer process creates as little disruption for our customers and staff therefore Albany will remain open and operational whilst the transfer of management takes place.
Does the change of management affect the people who work there?
We’re pleased to say that you will still see the same familiar faces who’ve served you previously, with just a change to their uniforms. Please be patient, whilst the facility stays the same some of the products, systems and policies maybe a little different.
Will the current activities and courses still be on offer?
Initially, yes. Places Leisure will review all current activities and courses with the onsite staff teams to ensure they reflect the needs of the community.
Will I still book in the same way?
There will be new systems in place to make bookings from 1st October onwards. More information will be supplied shortly.
I have a current booking that takes place after 30th September – will this still be valid?
Yes, all current bookings will be honoured.
Will my personal data need to be transferred?
Yes. To make sure your bookings, and payments continue smoothly after 1 October 2025, you’re information will be securely transferred to us from Achieving for Children.

What information will be transferred?
Details such as your name, contact information, membership type, booking history, and any payments linked to your account. Only the information needed to run the service will be transferred.

How will my data be kept safe?
The transfer is being carried out securely in line with UK GDPR and data protection law. Access is restricted to authorised staff, and all data will be handled confidentially.

Will Achieving for Children keep any of my information?
Achieving for Children will only retain information that must be kept for legal or financial reasons (e.g. invoices, incident reports). All other records will transfer to us or be securely deleted.

Do I have a choice about this?
Yes. You can object to your data being transferred or request deletion of your information before the transfer. Please note, if you do this, your membership or bookings may not carry across to the new operator. To object please contact Achieving for Children.
Will there be changes on how I make contact?
Please continue to contact Albany as normal, numbers remain the same. The websites will be changing and further details will be shared on this shortly. If you have any questions regarding the transition, please email us at enquiries@pfpleisure.org.
