National Fitness Day 2022

Fitness Unites Us!

National Fitness Day went ahead on Wednesday 21st September 2022, it's a day to highlight the role that physical activity plays in people’s lives and to help us raise awareness of its importance in helping our communities to lead healthier lifestyles.

The aim of the day is to encourage fitness into people’s lives long-term and we are delighted to get involved with our 10@10 workout (10 minutes of activity at 10am).

We’re encouraging all to participate in 10 minutes of any activity throughout the day, in the hope that these 10 minutes will inspire people to get active more often, beyond this day, in whatever way they choose.

This year’s we’re focusing on inclusivity and we wanted to provide a challenge that everyone can take part in within our centres and communities.

Encouraging as many people as possible to engage in activity on the day, in any way they deem accessible and enjoyable.

Watch our 10-minute workout video, you can follow along in our centres or from the comfort of your home or office – get the sound turned up and as many people involved as possible!

We've put together some of our favourite moments from National Fitness Day 2022. Watch the video to get just a taste of what was achieved across the country in our centres and communities!

Fitness for Everyone

We have teamed up with ukactive and ITN Business to feature in one of their “Fitness for Everyone” programmes promoting the importance of activity and what it means to us at the forefront of the leisure industry.

National Fitness Day is about encouraging our communities to engage in activity – it’s why we do what we do. There are countless physical and mental health issues that can be resolved or reduced through the practice of fitness and wellness. At Places Leisure, we exist to provide change to our communities in ways that are accessible, affordable and above all – enjoyable.

As our CEO, Oliver Lee OBE summarised: “Being a non-profit social enterprise, what we’re seeking to do is to make a broader contribution than just being a pure leisure centre – to be a community hub and for our general managers at the front line on behalf of us all to be ambassadors for those communities”
