Keeping them busy over the Easter holidays

With the long Easter weekend coming up, and what should have been the school Easter break, many of us will have had plans to get away, take some time off work and have fun.

If you're in need of some inspiration for ways to keep the kids entertained this Easter (and after the holidays while the schools are closed) try some of these ideas we've put together to get them active and keep them busy.

We'd love to see what you get up to. Please post on Facebook and tag us @PlacesLeisure using #NoPlacesLikeHome

Active Easter egg hunt

Turn your Easter egg hunt into a way to get active by allocating egg-ercises (sorry!) at each egg location!  Bunny hops seem most appropriate, but choose any that you like or some our Alphabet workout.

You can also use it as a separate game too - get your family members to do the exercises that spell out their name, or Easter-themed words!

Virtual visits

Although zoos, parks, museums and galleries are currently closed, many are offering free virtual tours so you can experience them from home:

Entertain the kids with a trip to the zoo:

Escape virtually to the places you’ve always wanted to visit. Take in the sights and maybe plan a trip for when this is all over.

See world-class art and historical artefacts without leaving your sofa.

Easter Activity Challenge

Fit For Sport is offering families fresh inspiration and motivation by inviting them to take its free Easter Activity Challenge. Its aim is to engage at least 10,000 families for 10 minutes at 10am on Bank Holiday Monday, April 13th in a bid to raise heart rates and smiles across the nation.

Simply register at http://www.activitychallenge.co.uk/, take the challenge and log your family’s results. Depending how you perform, you will be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold grading!

Les Mills BORN TO MOVE

When it comes to learning a whole lot of cool moves from dance, martial arts and yoga this class is the way to go. Each 20 or 40-minute class is jam-packed with cool music and foundation fitness moves and fun games. There's even an Avengers class!

You'll find loads of free BORN TO MOVE classes on the Places Locker app - and more for you!

Craft and creativity

If you're feeling crafty, why not use your empty Easter egg box to make a mask? (A fun one, not a protective one!)
