Still on the go!

Find out how we're helping keep people over 60 active at our place

Cotman Housing Association has been awarded funding from Sport England following a successful bid to their Active Ageing fund. This means that over the coming 3 years we will run a programme together to help deliver outcomes which reflect Sport England's strategic aims.
The project's main aim is to reduce inactivity amongst people 60 and over, with a focus on women, increasing their level of activity to 30 minutes moderate intensity a week. We want people to live well, to help them improve their strength and fitness, and to meet other people. We will be conducting tailored fitness and exercises group sessions at Cotman's sheltered schemes. We will be running Circuits, Zumba Gold, Swim Fit, Guided Swimming, Yoga and much more. We will, of course, take into consideration any physical health concerns and the instructors are able to modify the session to suit individuals abilities.
If anyone would like to do take part in activity not on listed, we can support them to join a different activity. The project is also open to the wider community as long as they meet the project criteria. The project will expand into other housing providers sheltered schemes in Norwich, then Norfolk year 2 and Suffolk in year 3.
It will be evaluated as a research project by an independent evaluator and participants will be directly involved in the evaluation.
Cotman are currently looking for 'Ambassadors', people who are already active and would be like to volunteer a small amount of their time to meet with participants who are thinking of joining a session to give them some reassurance, encouragement or show them around the scheme or leisure centre.
Please contact Cotman if you have any questions or would like to register your interest in taking part in the sessions as a participant or be a Volunteer Ambassador.
