Ongar Swimming Pool Works

Pool Closure

The swimming pool at Ongar Leisure Centre will remain closed until later this year whilst important refurbishment works are completed to maintain the pool plant and ensure the continuation of pool facilities at Ongar Leisure Centre for the next 5 – 7 years.

Epping Forest District Council have invested £1.3 million into the facility and works will include Replacement of pool plant, new LED lighting, replacement electricals, roof repairs and general decorative works.

The swimming pools at Loughton Leisure Centre and Waltham Abbey Leisure Centre will be open from Monday 10th August 2020 following the COVID-19 closure and Ongar Premium and Swim members are encouraged to book and swim at either venue. Pay as you go swimming will also be available at these venues for non-members although all users will require a Places Locker membership (free of charge) for track and trace purposes.

Councillor Nigel Avey from Epping Forest District Council comments; “We are pleased to be able to continue with our leisure investment plans and have brought forward the pool works at Ongar Leisure Centre to coincide with the closure following the COVID-19 outbreak. It is our hope that once the works are completed we will be able to fully re-open with restrictions lifted and minimum disruption to customers. We would like to thank residents for their patience and encourage them to enjoy swimming at our other pools in Loughton and Waltham Abbey”.
