Bags of Help - This Project is to address some of these alarming statistics by offering quality, affordable sessions led by qualified instructor in the community.

The Leisure Centre has a limited amount of junior equipment for sessions such as badminton, squash, dance and HIIT which means restricting the number of children or getting the children to share equipment. In order to improve the provision an investment needs to be made for appropriately sized balls, rackets, nets and fitness equipment as well as upskilling the staff to enable them to deliver fun, enjoyable and quality sessions. The trained staff will be able to encourage recreational sport, regular weekly training sessions and also develop some junior squads.

The variety of different sessions will allow for wider participation from the community and an increase in engagement with the children. It will assist in their understanding of the importance physical activity and exercise plays as part of them developing a healthy attitude towards physical activity and exercise as they grow into adulthood.

Starting physical activity at this target age group leads to improved participation and awareness and will lead to exercise adherence in later life.
