Congratulations Florence!

Cranleigh Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the year

After a challenging 2021 we wanted to round the year off with some good news stories.  We asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition.

They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers.  They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.

Florence Roberts - Cranleigh Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the Year 2021
Nominated by her teacher Jaz Strudgwick

"I taught Florence pre lockdown in stage 2, she found it very difficult to swim on her back without any support. When we returned after lockdown she was still in stage 2, with the same, if not more difficulty.

From March 2021 I gave her weekly private lessons alongside her swim school lesson, she instantly excelled. She worked extremely hard and engaged in all of the lessons. She moved up levels until now she is in stage 5, about to move into stage 6. Her stroke is beautiful and she is so proud of herself. Florence deserves to be swimmer of the year simply on her ability to follow the guidance on her stroke and technique and her love for swimming."
