Multi Court Update - January 2018

A temporary access route to the new outdoor multi- use courts has been completed and as a result we are pleased to announce the courts are now open for use during the daytime for tennis and netball.

On safety grounds there will be a need to close the courts at some stage in the near future to complete the drainage works, finalise the supply and commissioning of floodlights and footpath lights and install new ball stop netting.  This work is likely to take two to three weeks and we will advise users of when this will take place once the programme of works has been finalised. Once this work has been completed the courts will be fully operational and available for tennis, netball and five-a-side football.

Please direct all bookings enquiries to enquiries@broadbridgeheathleisurecentre.co.uk or call Reception on 01403 211311.

Car Parking Changes

The old car park entrance is currently closed. Entry and exit to the car park will be via the current exit. Please follow the directional signage.

A number of spaces will be out of use in order for the contractors to complete their works, we will aim to keep this to a minimum.

The disabled bays in front of the centre will be moved on to the forecourt for the duration of the build.

Gas trench proposed work

As part of the ongoing building process of the new Leisure Centre we have reached a point where the builders need to have access to the old
building to have access to gas and electricity etc.
From Monday 25th June a new proposed gas pipe needs to be connected to the existing run which is located out the front of current
leisure centre within the blocked paved area.
The proposal is to excavate a trench 600mm wide 600mm deep approximately the trench will run out from the new proposed
plant room (plant room located below the glazed gym box) along the existing block paved access road we will exit the site gate
keeping over to the footpath close to the leisure centre wall, there will be an access path around to the outside roller doors for access
if required. As we cross the zebra crossing area an access crossing point will be maintained at all times for leisure centre users.
As the trench is excavated just past the crossing point it will change direction and head off at 45* angle (as per the attached sketch)
towards the current leisure centre, the change in direction will allow access between the concrete posts to the disabled parking bays
as they are currently laid out for vehicles and should still allow enough space for delivery lorries to gain access.
The work area will be completely fenced in during the works and out of hours with heras fence and the red chapter eight barriers,
plates will be placed over the trench to allow pedestrian access at all times. The trench will be excavated and the gas pipe installed
in sections back filled, compacted and then lean mix concrete installed back to the top of existing block paving.
The connection pit once the existing has been located will need to remain open (fenced and protected) as a T section will be
installed with two way isolation, at a later date, which will be confirmed when commissioning is due to commence on the new
building to minimise disruption to the current gas supply to the existing leisure centre, it is proposed to isolate one of the
existing boilers in the leisure centre leaving one boiler operating the hot water throughout the existing building but no heating,
the works will be undertaken late July and through August Hopefully no heating would be required during this time of year.
