Customer's FAQs

We’re proud to announce that Surrey Heath Borough Council has awarded a 25-year contract to Places Leisure, to design, build, operate and maintain a £22 million leisure centre in Camberley. The new centre is due to open 2021. It will be built on the same footprint as the current Arena Leisure Centre, which will remain open until August 29th2019.

We’ve produced these handy FAQ’s to answer your initial questions and we’ll add answers to your more popular questions.  If you have a question that hasn’t been answered, then please see the form at the bottom of the page.

What happens to the current Arena?

The award-winning Arena Centre Leisure Centre, which was built in 1984 and served its community well over the years, sadly is no longer fit for purpose.  It’s time to make way for a new centre that better serves the community’s activity needs.  It’s important to note that it’s business as usual until August 29th2019, and this is the last day that you will be able to use the centre.

What will the new centre include?

Proposed new facilities include a 25-metre 6-lane pool, learner pool with adjustable floor, splash zone (interactive water confidence area), 8-court sports hall, fitness suite, group exercise studios, adventure play, Clip ‘n Climb (a vibrant and fun climbing experience), health suite and cafe.

Where can I see the new plans?

The latest plans can be viewed here.

Can we receive updates?

Of course, we’d love to keep you updated on the development of the new leisure centre as it takes shape, and membership offers as the grand opening draws near. If you’d like us to keep in touch, please complete this form.

Could the new centre have been built on another location?

The Arena Leisure Centre has been synonymous with Camberley and its surrounding boroughs for over 34 years and is ideally situated nearby the town centre and transport links. It was decided following feasibility work that the community would ultimately benefit most if the location did not change.

I’m an annual customer/member and have pre-paid, what happens?

We are just in the process of getting in touch with our annual members – so please look out in your in-box or letterbox.  We will calculate refunds on a pro rata basis – refunding the value from the closure date until your renewal date (i.e. when the 12 month ends).  In order to process your refund, we need your bank details. There are 2 ways to do this:

  • Allow a few extra minutes on your next visit to Arena Leisure Centre to share your sort code and account number with us.
  • If you aren’t visiting Arena Leisure Centre any time soon, you can phone us with your bank details on 01276 417111

Refunds will be processed on the August 30th, please allow 10 working days for the funds to reach you.
