Arena Leisure Centre is now closed to make way for a brand new £22-million leisure centre, due to open in 2021. 

We’ve produced these handy FAQs to answer your questions and we’ll add answers to your more popular questions. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered, then please see the form at the bottom of the page. 

How can I be active now the centre has closed?


We have committed to offering a free month to all customers whose Swim, Premium or Gym memberships ran until the Arena Leisure Centre closed (29th August) should you wish to transfer to, or simply try, one of our other local centres. Below are links to the closest sites to Arena:

Simply visit your choice of centre before 29th September with your Arena membership details handy and choose the membership that best suits you – we will apply the free month for you. It goes without saying that there won’t be a joining fee. In all cases they are new agreements. 


My children have swim lessons at Arena Leisure Centre. Can I transfer them to another Places Leisure Centre?

Yes! We have committed to offering a free month to all customers whose lessons ran until Arena Leisure Centre's closure (August 29th), should you wish to transfer to one of our other local centres. This includes Farnborough Leisure Centre, Aldershot Pool & Fitness Centre and two sites in the Wokingham area: Loddon Valley and Carnival Pool. To benefit, simply visit your choice of centre from now until 29th September, with your Arena details handy and we will apply the free month for you. Lessons are subject to availability.


We’ve heard that additional classes will be held at Camberley Theatre, can you tell us more?

Yes, Surrey Heath Borough Council will be offering fitness classes in either the studio or function room at Camberley Theatre. Complimentary car parking for up to 2 hours at Knoll Road multi-storey car park will be available if you are attending a class. The theatre bar serving tea, coffee and soft drinks will be open before and after each class. I’m an annual customer/member and have pre-paid. What happens?

We have contacted our annual members, so please check your inbox, letterbox or voicemail. Refunds will be calculated on a pro rata basis – refunding the value from the closure date until your renewal date (i.e. when the 12 month ends).  In order to process your refund, we need your bank details. Please phone Farnborough Leisure Centre on 01252 370411 to share your sort code and account number with us. Please allow 10 working days for the funds to reach you after you have done so.


New centre

What will the new centre include?

Proposed new facilities include a 25-metre 6-lane pool, learner pool with adjustable floor, splash zone (interactive water confidence area), 8-court sports hall, fitness suite, group exercise studios, adventure play, Clip ‘n Climb (a vibrant and fun climbing experience), health suite and cafe.
