Exciting times - The Building structure for the new Andover Leisure Centre is really progressing we cant wait to see the end result
Work has started on the build for Andover Leisure Centre. To mark the occasion Anton Primary School buried a time capsule, see pictures below:
The wet side building, linking bridge and sports hall (see image below) have now been demolished and the rubble is being sorted and cleared.
The beginning of the new foundations will commence in early December, with the main foundations starting after Christmas.
All stone and masonry will be recycled and re-used on site to form the foundations for the new building. General waste, wood and metal is separated and removed from the site to be recycled.
Due to building work there are redirections for pedestrian access routes. The images below show where routes have been closed, which includes the walkway to the centre under the bridge and the pavement that runs past West Street Car Park.
Access to Andover Leisure Centre is from Junction Road under the bypass, or via the pavement above over the foot bridge and past The Lights Theatre around the pond, or from Marlborough Street car park (next to Andover College and Simply Health).
West Street Car Park will be closed for public use for up to 2 years. This is to enable a site area for vehicles and equipment to be moved on and off the building site.
Customers visiting the Gym, Studios and Squash Courts go through Cafeology and Merlin's Kingdom and follow directional signage, Studio 4 has been relocated on the ground floor off the cafe. There is lift access to all floors, ask at reception if you require any help.
